Sometimes you need to print a document to that contains sensitive informaiton and only have the shared, office multifunction printer (MFP) available. In those cases you want the print job to start only when you are physically at the printer to pickup the print job. In those situations, you can use the below steps to make the MFP wait until you confirm the print job at the machine.
Note that these instructions were developed for the Lexmark CX921 currently deployed to Japan Region ONE-Net sites. However if you have a different MFP, it should be a similar process.
- Ensure you have the correct printer selected and Choose "Properties" or "Printer Properties"
- Go to the "Print and Hold" tab
- Check "Use Print and Hold", Ensure "Confidential print" is selected, and Click "Ok"
- Click "Print"
- Enter a PIN when asked.
- At the printer, Log in by inserting your CAC and entering your CAC PIN
- Select "Held Jobs"
- Select "Confidential"
- Enter the PIN you entered back in step 5
- Choose the Print Job
- Confirm your print parameters and choose "Print"
The print job will then complete and be deleted from the printer. Note that you will need to uncheck the "Use Print and Hold" check box from step 3 of this guide to return to normal printing.
