Nautilus Virtual Desktop (NVD) is a cloud-based virtual desktop that allows access to enterprise computer systems from virtually anywhere. You can use Government Furnished Equipment without VPN or even a personal device such as a personal computer or tablet.
Requesting access
If you are interested in using NVD,
- Ensure that you will be or are using a compatible device/browser,
- Save/Backup all your files to OneDrive and SharePoint, and
- Send a request for access or email us at support@cnrjffr.org (This is for CNRJ users ONLY. All others, please contact your local IT to request access.)

Once we receive and process your request, you will receive a welcome email from NVD and can immediately start using the service.
Accessing NVD
There are two ways of accessing NVD. You can either connect through the Windows App installed on a compatible device or connect through a compatible web browser. Note that if you require CAC connectivity, you must use the Windows App on either Windows or macOS. That means that if you will be logging into CAC-enabled websites, digitally signing documents, or reading/sending encrypted emails, you must use the Windows App on Windows or macOS.
Web Browser
To connect to NVD using a web browser, you must have setup a FlankSpeed Password and Multifactor Authentication (MFA). Once you have done so, go to the following webpage and sign-in with a compatible browser.

Windows App
The main method to use NVD is through the Windows App. This is the most fully featured method and the recommended way to access.
Installation
If you are already using a CNRJ business (CNRJFFR.org) computer, the Windows App is already installed; please continue to the initial setup.
If you are using a pesonal device, you'll need to install the app first. Click the links below to download & install the application. Once you have completed the installation, continue to initial setup.

Note: Previsouly, we were required to use the Remote Desktop app to connect to NVD. However, support for this app ends March 27, 2026. Though Microsoft extended support for the Government Cloud to September 28, 2026, we recommend you migrate to the Windows App as soon as possible.

Logging In
Double-click either the "East" or "West" SSO NVDesktop icon, and then sign in using your FlankSpeed credentials. After that, a new window will open with the desktop logged in. You can now setup and use this desktop just like your official computer.
If you are logging in again, just make sure that you always choose the same NVD Desktop. If you are using "East" and choose to use "West," you will log into a different desktop and need to set it up again.
