In order to facilitate remote work and travel, ONE-Net offers VPN services to users who possess ONE-Net laptops. These VPN services work with either a cabled or wireless connection. You will find the user guide linked below. In order to get access to ONE-Net VPN services, find your laptop's "Computer Name" and submit it to the helpdesk. We will then process it and submit to ONE-Net.
Note that the functionality of VPN services may vary depending on your location and the network your used to access the We can support you in ensuring the functionality of the VPN software on your workstation; however, we cannot support issues with the local network you are using to access the VPN. You will have to contact the local admin or other point of contact for whatever network you are using to connect or connect from a different network.
For networks with captive portals (splash pages), you will need to open a browser and access the page to fulfill additional requirements to complete your sign-on to the network. In order to access the splash page, you will need to disable the ONE-Net proxy settings on your workstation. Until you do this, you are not fully connected to the network and the VPN will not work. To do this, follow the below steps:
- Shut down your device while it is connected to the ONE-Net network.
- Start your device while it is not connected to the ONE-Net network.
- Open Internet Options by typing 'internet options' in the search bar.
- Click on the Connections tab and select LAN settings.
- Uncheck the proxy check box
- Follow the steps in the ONE-Net VPN & Wi-Fi Guide up to step 5
- Access the splash page and follow any on-screen instructions to sign-in to the network.
*Update*
The Edimax USB Wi-Fi dongle is no longer being used. To use Wi-Fi on ONE-Net laptops you must first enable your laptops onboard Wi-Fi Network interface card (NIC). After Wi-Fi/VPN access has been approved, you should be able to connect to the Software Center and run the BIOS Config Tool to enable the NIC. You can access the Software Center by typing "Software Center" in the windows search box.
After you open the Software Center, you should see the BIOS Config Tool. Click on it and select Install. IF you do not see the BIOS ConfigTool, you may not be authorized for Wi-FI/VPN. Contact our support desk.
After the BIOS Config Tool has been installed, reboot the workstation. When you log back in, you should be able to click on the Wi-Fi icon in the task bar and search available Wi-Fi.
Please note, these steps must be taken prior to disconnecting from ONE-Net.
You should now have full network access. One way to check for full connectivity is to open a browser and browse to www.google.com. If you can reach the google search page, you are fully connect to the network and the VPN should work. You can now follow the instructions in the ONE-Net User Guide_VPN and WiFI to connect to the ONE-Net VPN.
